Where Art Becomes a Living Meditation

For New York-based multidisciplinary artist Sarkis , art is not simply a profession or creative outlet—it is a way of being. Guided by the belief that "Art is Life and Life is Art," Sarkis has spent his lifetime exploring the boundless relationship between creativity, consciousness, and human connection.

A self-taught artist whose creative journey began in childhood, Sarkis demonstrated an extraordinary artistic instinct from an early age. At just six years old, he was creating realistic portraits, still lifes, and animal drawings without formal instruction. His curiosity and artistic expression extended beyond visual arts into music, dance, poetry, martial arts, and photography, laying the foundation for the multidisciplinary practice that defines his work today.

Over the past decade, Sarkis has built a professional career as a designer, photographer, and art director while simultaneously developing an expansive body of personal artwork. His creative output is remarkable in both scale and dedication. In the last seven years alone, he has produced more than 8,000 unique works on paper and canvas, ranging from intimate studies to large-scale pieces. Through exhibitions, art fairs, and independent sales, he has cultivated a community that extends beyond collectors, fostering meaningful connections through shared experiences of art and expression.

At the heart of Sarkis' practice lies a profound relationship with what he describes as "flow"—a meditative state of creation where the boundaries between artist, artwork, and observer dissolve. During this process, he experiences himself as both participant and witness, allowing intuition and universal energy to guide the work. Rather than approaching art as a calculated exercise, Sarkis embraces spontaneity, presence, and trust in the creative moment.

This philosophy forms the foundation of what he calls "Sarkism," a personal artistic movement he describes as Universal Expressionism. Through dynamic interactions of color, texture, movement, and form, his works become visual meditations that seek to transcend traditional artistic categories. Each piece serves as an exploration of consciousness and emotion, inviting viewers to engage with their own inner landscapes.

Sarkis draws inspiration from an expansive range of sources, including love, nature, philosophy, spirituality, and the human experience itself. These influences are not merely referenced within his work; they become embedded within the creative process. For the artist, painting is a transformative act—one capable of alchemizing energy, fostering self-reflection, and facilitating healing.

His artistic mission extends beyond aesthetics. Sarkis views art as a therapeutic force, a bridge that reconnects individuals with their authentic selves. He believes that creative expression possesses the power to heal, inspire, and awaken deeper awareness. In this sense, his paintings function as mirrors, reflecting both the artist's journey and the viewer's own emotional and spiritual experiences.

In an era increasingly defined by distraction and disconnection, Sarkis' work offers an invitation to slow down, observe, and reconnect with the present moment. Through every brushstroke, he seeks to communicate a universal message rooted in compassion, unity, and love.

As his body of work continues to evolve, one thing remains constant: a commitment to creating from a place of authenticity and connection. For Sarkis, art is not separate from life—it is life itself, expressed through color, movement, and the enduring pursuit of human understanding.
