Painting Connection, Color, and the Beauty of Becoming
For Nina Hurwitz, the artist behind NinasPaintLife, painting is more than a creative practice—it is a way of understanding the world. Through vibrant color, intuitive movement, and her signature "infinity line," Hurwitz creates works that celebrate connection, resilience, and transformation.
Raised in Brooklyn by a mother who worked as a costume designer, Hurwitz grew up in a home where imagination was part of everyday life. Hand-painted flowers covered the walls, creativity was encouraged, and making things by hand became second nature. These early experiences shaped her belief that art has the power to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Rooted in Jewish traditions of storytelling, ritual, and community, Hurwitz developed a deep appreciation for connection while also feeling a desire to explore beyond boundaries. Travels through Paris, Israel, and Africa expanded her perspective and continue to influence her work's sense of movement, openness, and discovery.
After returning to New York City, Hurwitz studied art under mentors including Carol Steen and Nari Ward, learning to embrace color as an emotional experience and process as a form of exploration. Her time as a union painter at the Museum of Modern Art further shaped her practice, inspiring a fascination with the physicality of paint, the beauty of imperfection, and the poetry found in labor and transformation.

Today, Hurwitz's paintings are known for their energetic compositions and flowing infinity line—a recurring symbol of interconnectedness, growth, and possibility. Rather than striving for perfection, her work celebrates the beauty of life's imperfections and the unexpected paths that connect us.

Motherhood has added another layer to her artistic vision, inspiring themes of vulnerability, care, and hope. Everyday moments with her children often find their way into her work, transformed into visual expressions of love and resilience.
Whether pouring paint directly onto the canvas, layering color, or allowing forms to emerge intuitively, Hurwitz invites viewers to experience her work first through feeling. Her paintings are both personal and universal—an exploration of healing, connection, and the belief that our collective messiness can become something powerful and beautiful.
At its heart, NinasPaintLife is an invitation: to slow down, to feel deeply, and to discover the extraordinary within the everyday.
